The region offers plenty of dive sites for seasoned divers and newbies alike.

Being a globally acclaimed top tourist destination, Bali offers attractions for all types of travellers. The opportunity to explore various diving spots is just one of them. The abundance of dive shops is a testimony to the number of tourists flocking to the area to experience diving in the warm tropical waters.

While many resorts dot the beaches of Bali, several of them cater specifically to divers. You won’t have to settle for insufficiently equipped dive shops within beach resorts, they’ll have a wide selection of dive resorts that cater especially to divers. These will feature fully equipped shops with the latest and well-maintained dive gear along with a highly trained, very professional, and accommodating staff. Should you find yourself without any of your own gear, the shops can outfit you from head to toe without a problem.

You don’t even have to be a certified diver yet to join in on the fun. While snorkeling is enjoyable, getting an introduction and open water diving certification in PADI accredited dive centers in Bali is too easy and affordable to pass up.

In the region, divers can expect variety in their dive sites. You can opt for wreck diving via one of the most famous dive sites in Bali’s north-eastern area, the USAT Liberty located off the Lombok coast. This former American supply ship, a remnant of WWII, is a favorite dive destination for enthusiasts. The 120m long USAT Liberty rests at depths between 3-29 meters and can be approached straight from Tulamben beach. It is popularly enjoyed by divers and snorkelers both.

If quiet and a little bit of a rustic atmosphere along with plenty of diving is what you’re looking for, Amed is another great location. Located in the south, Amed was once mainly a salt-panning and fishing village. Even to this day though, with the advent of tourism in the area, it still remains a slow-paced village where travellers can totally relax, unplug, and focus on diving. Hire some of the local boats to get to some nice drop offs that feature a wide variety of corals and fish.

Gili Islands is another notable Bali dive area. Again, popular for scuba diving and snorkeling, it is also well known for its reputation as the turtle capital of the world. The warm waters and the turtles around the Gili Islands aren’t the only draws for the area, situated off of the west coast of Lombok, it is a great place to establish a base, with over 20 dive sites in the islands of Gili, Trawangan, and Meno, any dive enthusiast can spend day after day checking out new underwater sites.

The Bloo Lagoon is not particularly known for its overly exotic underwater views but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a boring dive. Aside from featuring marine life ranging form stone-fish, scorpion-fish, sharks, and the occasional whales, along with the ever photogenic coral bommies, flowing anemones, and staghorn coral patch reefs even in the shallows, the eco-tourism theme of the namesake resort is attractive to many travellers. The site is also well known for introductory dives, photography dives, and night dives.

The largest of the three islands on the other side of the Bandung Strait from Bali’s east coast, Nusa Penida benefits from the deep water channel current flowing down the Lombok Strait. While the water tends to be on the colder side, it is amazingly clear. Divers can expect sightings of sharks, turtles, and from July to November: Mola-mola, the ocean sunfish.

There are numerous places to explore in Bali and many of them, sub aqua. But for time above water, Bali has numerous sights to experience as well. Take the time in between dives to experience Balinese culture and hospitality. The many colors, flavors, and textures of Bali and its people will definitely complement and echo the sights seen underwater and can only enhance the experience.

Go diving for fun and adventure with new people and fellow travellers from all over the world, or bring your family and friends along. There are plenty of things to see and do for divers and non-divers all.

From stunning beaches and spectacular sunsets to glorious food and sublime hospitality, the island of Bali is home to some of the best surf in the Indian Ocean, and whether you’re a beginner or a pro, there are always new and exciting things to do!

Although Bali’s Lebih Beach has suffered some terrible erosion over the last few years, the rest of the shoreline is in pristine condition. Thousands of people from all over the globe make their way here to catch the best surf, and end up staying for weeks on end to experience the rest of the island’s culture and hospitality.

Before you go looking for your ultimate surfing experience, however, you will need to get a feel of the waves. This means finding a part of the beach that suits your level, or you could end up in a whirlpool full of waves, rocks and seaweed. Why not take a look at some of the best surfing spots in Bali and see what stretch of shoreline suits you!

Kuta Beach – Beginner to Intermediate

All surfing beginners are advised to set up shop on Kuta Beach. Not only is the shoreline full of beginners’ classes and easy to use surfboards, but the waves are pretty calm too, meaning you can practise at any time of the day. Kuta Beach is also close to the main nightlife hotspots, so when you’ve had enough of falling off your surfboard, you can get a nice juicy cocktail only a short walk away! When it comes to safety, this beach has lifeguards at multiple points across the beach, ensuring you’re swiftly picked out of the water if things get a little rough.

Canggu Beach – Beginner to Intermediate

This beach also provides beginner to intermediate levels of surf, however the beginners’ courses tend to be a little more challenging due to the tougher waves. If you’ve never surfed, these waves are still manageable, and the instructors on this beach are more than accommodating. Located about 30 minutes from Kuta Beach, Canggu benefits from spectacular coral reefs and long warm days; however, there are no party hotspots in the vicinity. On the up side, the intermediate surf is some of the best on the island.

Keramas – Intermediate to Expert

Now on to the hard stuff – Keramas is the place to be if you’re looking for some surfing excitement in Bali. A short walk from Gianyar, this beach is quietly hidden away on the southern side of the island, and over the years has become one of the best surfing hotspots in Bali. Benefiting from an excellent reef break, Keramas Beach provides constant waves as well as a big swell, and expert surfers from all over Indonesia make their way here throughout the year. In order to catch the best waves, intermediates are advised to get on the beach between 6am and 8am – any time after this and the onshore winds may affect the barrel.

Cheapflights Australia is an online flight comparison service, helping you to keep the cost of your adventures down!

Many places in Indonesia have not been discovered due to dangerous animals or that it is nearly impossible to travel on foot. However, Timika is a chartered city (kota) and the capital city of Mimika Regency of Papua in Indonesia.

When we talk about spending the holidays in Indonesia, Timika is the best choice one could make if you are looking for a peaceful vacation. You can find great deals on Expedia that will show you the cheapest flights and places to stay. Timika is an active little town in the rural area on Indonesia which is not yet shown on most maps but it is a good place to relax your mind and rest with your family. This little town is not a major tourist spot so you will find just a few facilities where you can sleep and spend your time in comfort and style having the amazing sight of the birds of paradise. It gives an opportunity to the golf lovers to play golf beneath the rainforest giants. The most amazing sight is when you observe what happens when Asia meets Melanesia.

Indonesia is one populated country that comprises of approximately 6000 populated islands and has a diverse array of traditional, distinct ethnic, linguistic and religious groups. It has a diverse culture because of which many regional cuisines exist based upon the different taste of different cultural and foreign influences. Indonesian cuisines vary according to the different regions.

Restaurants in Indonesia primarily focus on the dishes being served only in java and Sumatra while many non-Indonesians are not even aware that each region actually has its own separate and distinct cuisine. However Indonesia’s regional styles of cooking food and the indigenous techniques and ingredients have been influenced to a great extent over the centuries by the ingredients and the cooking styles of China, Europe, India and other parts of Asia. A typical meal in Indonesia can simply be described as being simple rice with several savory sidelines of vegetable, fish, and poultry dish along with a chili-hot condiment or Sambal on its side. Peanuts, crispy wafers and other fried shallots give it a crunchy contrast.

However Indonesian cuisines have created a mixture of flavors that exert its own influence abroad and on the people. Indonesian cuisines taste the best and must be tried for sure!

Timika International Airport has the only flights into this section of Papua from the rest of Indonesia.

This area was important to the Japanese during the Second World War because of the copper mines nearby, and scuba-diving to visit sunken ships and fighter planes is one of the activities that draws tourists to Timika. Many people also come to view the Puncak Jaya Mountains, some of which are among the highest in the world. The town is surrounded be rainforests, and nearly 1500 species of birds live in the vicinity.

Visitors are also attracted by the people of Timika and the surrounding area. The Kamoro people produce their own indigenous art, and supply the town with fruits and vegetables, many varieties of which are almost impossible to find elsewhere.
